Thank you for your attention to Takefu International Music Festival from all over Japan and all over the world. Our festival started in 1990, and will welcome the 23th festival this year. The program this year is mixed by both classical and contemporary music. I’m sure that you will find a new world and experience the great universe of music. We welcome Toshio Hosokawa, who is one of the leading composer in the world, to our music director. We are waiting for your appearance to our festival.

History

February 1990 Sterted as Finlad Music Festival’90 in Takefu. The festival was held in June.
March 1991 Finland Music Festival’91 in Takefu was held in May.
October 1991 Takefu Iternational Music Festival Board was established.
1992.5.31-6.7 Takefu International Music Festival’92 was held. It became the annual activity ever since.
2001.6.10-6.19 Takefu International Composition Workshop was held. It became the annual activity ever since.
2005.8.28-9.7 Takefu International Summer Academy was held. It became the annual activity ever since.

Takefu composition award 2012 application result

Applicaion for Takefu Composition Award 2012 was closed on July 9.
51 applications was made including 17 from abroad.
At the preliminary screening, up to three works will be selected by the jury as the finalists.
The result of the preliminary screening will be notified to all applicants by the end of July.

Toshio Hosokawa was selected for foreign member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts

The Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts announced that Toshio Hosokawa who is our music director was selected as a foreign member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.
The academy was established in Bavaria, Germany in 1948 and selects prominent artists among visual arts, literature, music, stage arts, movies and media art.
In the music sector,composers and musicians who represent the present age are selested such as Pierre Boulez,Hans Werner Henze,Heinz Holliger,Krzysztof Penderecki,Salvatore Sciarrino,Lorin Maazel,Kent George Nagano,Pierre-Laurent Aimard,Alfred Brendel,Gidon Markusovich Kremer and so on.
Toshio Hosokawa is the only member who is japanese at the moment.
The academy is presenting Muiskpreis from Ernst von Siemens Stiftung known as nobel prize in the music world,with the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
